blkchristmas (3K)Black Christmas - BPS Poll Results

BPS polled Black America after Thanksgiving unto Dec. 31 to gather statistics about our holiday habits. Regardless of what Euro-academic America reports or believes about Blacks in this country, the poll by BPS reveals truth from an unbiased Black perspective.

We asked Black America the following questions:

What do you celebrate during this time of year?

Christmas - 52.63%
Kwanzaa - 17.89%
Hannakaa - 0.00%
Nothing - 29.47%

The above reveals to us that over half of Black Americans who acknowledge the holidays celebrate Christmas before any others. However, 29% would rather not acknowledge a holiday at all than acknowledge Kwanzaa or Hannaka.

On a percentage scale, at what percentage would you say you celebrate the holidays?

50% - 13.54%
75% - 22.92%
100% - 23.96%
No percent - 20.83%

For an account of how involved Black America is into the holiday season, this question answers it with a small majority involved 100% in all holiday activities, followed closely by 75% and there after 20% of Black America who does not get involved at all. This says that at most 80% of Black America is involved during the Holiday season at some level.

Do you or anyone in your family do state-to-state travel for the holidays, including Thanksgiving?

Always - 8.33%
Never - 40.63%
Some travel - 51.04%

Overall, the poll says that many Black families have relatives in a different state or cities but few make plans to visit them.

How much money would you say you spend from Thanksgiving to New Year for the holidays?

None at all - 10.20%
Less than $50 - 14.29%
Up to $200 - 25.51%
$200 - $500 - 28.57%
Over $500 - 21.43%

A large-combined percentage of Black America spends at least $50 or more during the Holiday season with a major portion spending between $200 and $500. This accounts for the large percentage of Blacks who are involved in the season at least 75% and over. These results speak loudly about the state of Black relationships in and around family, which is positive.

Does Christmas have any spiritual meaning to you?

Yes - 46.39%
No - 43.30%
No answer - 10.31%

Regardless of how much money is spent by Blacks during the season, Christmas having meaning to them is split. Although more admit that Christmas has a spiritual meaning to them, just as many admit it does not have any spiritual meaning, yet this percentage must account for those who spend money.

Do you believe the Christmas holidays are Euro-based or genuinely spiritual for all people?

Euro-based - 55.67%
Genuine for all - 21.65%

Of the diversity among Blacks in America, more believe in Christmas having a spiritual meaning in their lives, and they show this by the amount of spending they do during the season.

Though many have doubts about the authenticity of Christmas and reject its meaning, they would rather accept the season for what it means to them and not what the Euro-society dictates what it means in general.
